The faith that we are saved through doesn't come from our own will, but from the will of GOD.  He gives us the faith that we need to be saved. Why?  So that we can't say look at me!  Look at what I can do!  GOD wants us to boast in Him, and not in ourselves.  When we fall into the trap of thinking that it is because of our super great faith that we are saved, we're already halfway down the the road to destruction.  

GOD wants us to see that it is only through His grace that we receive the faith to become saved.  GOD also wants us to see that it is not our works that show how much faith we have. It is in GOD'S gift of faith that we can boast, and not in our own deeds.  

GOD'S gifts are worth boasting about.  What do we have to boast about?  Can anything that we have ever done even compare to that which He has done for us?  It's not that I want to belittle what you have done for someone else, I too have given a few gifts to people that I am proud about also, I just want to establish that even the best gift you, or I have ever given anybody, is still not comparable to the gift of GOD'S only SON to die for us, or the gift of everlasting life in Heaven that awaits us one day.  

So, when we boast, let us boast in the things that the FATHER has given to us.
