Unfailing Love
[12]
"Have
mercy on me, O
GOD, according to
Your unfailing love;
according
to Your
great compassion blot out my transgressions."
Psalms
51:1
David wrote this Psalm after the prophet Nathan had come to him about what he had done with Bathsheba. David having already known the Father's forgiveness is yet seeking Him for it once again. David counted on the fact that the Father is always there to forgive him when he asked for it.
GOD'S response to David isn't telling you that sin isn't all that bad and you should just forget it, or that there are no consequences for your actions. Instead, GOD wants you to realize that sin is so terrible that it must be punished. As if you read on in the life of David you'll find that he is punished for what he did.
I don't want you to think that GOD is just sitting on a cloud with a bolt of lightning just waiting to zap you when He gets the chance. The punishment of man's sins is death, but that has been lifted from the shoulders of all who believe in JESUS because of His sacrifice on the cross, proving the unlimited love of GOD for mankind.
David wrote: "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit." Psalms 32:1-2
Because of GOD'S unlimited love for you, don't feel intimidated or afraid of going to Him in prayer, asking for His forgiveness. He will always be ready to help you when you ask for it.
The truth has been shown to you through the Son, what are you going to get up and do about it?
"All
who call upon the Name of the LORD
will be saved."
Romans
10:13
